We went to Badlands National Park. It should be called Goodlands, though. It’s AWESOME!!!
We went to an area that could fit RVs. We went on Fossil Exhibit Trail, although we didn’t really stay on the trail. We climbed up where we could. We went up a small area first. But then slowly got to larger and larger ones. My view was amazing! I could see all around me!
If you come a few years after, it will be a few inches lower than what I saw, because an inch of erosion happens per year.
It’s pretty hard to climb on, but easy in some ways. At some points, the path is narrow, or there are holes in it. At some points, we just had to get on rocks protruding from the wall. When I went up, I had to go up a path which kind of twisted around the side of the formation. And then it kind of leveled out, although the path was somewhat slanting. On those parts I had to be extra careful. At times I felt like I was in Fiery Furnace – it was pretty hard. It’s a little bit crumbly in some places.
There is a Junior Ranger badge you can earn at this park. I earned it. It wasn’t very difficult. I did it all in the Visitor’s Center.
I want to go there again! We only spent about an hour there this time, but I want to go for five whole days – or more!
