I am writing about the Booker T. Washington Monument. He was a slave and when the Civil War was over he got freed from slavery. He was nine years old when it happened. He taught himself to read. He became a teacher who taught African-Americans. He started a school that’s in Alabama called Tuskegee University.
There was a paper fan that fanned the table. It was one of his chores, while he barely had any food. The paper fan kept flies away from the master’s food.
As a child he lived there, and you’ll get to see his home if you go. It’s a replica. Oh, and there’s turkeys.
